The band
Are you an outstanding talented musician? Maybe just so-so? OK, so you like to pick it up from time to time and wish you did so more often. The point is, you enjoy playing with other people and making friends. Columbus City Band is open to musicians of Columbus, Ind., and the surrounding area.
The band plays a range of military, concert and symphonic band music. Some of it more challenging than others. Plenty of variety to keep anyone entertained.
CCB always welcomes new members of all ages and experience, and no audition is required. To join, contact director Steve McGrew or any of our members, or simply bring your instrument to our next rehearsal.

Is there anyway to join your or other community band?

Congratulations to all musicians of CCB for another excellent concert yesterday (April 19, 08). Obviously your audience enjoyed it very much. I received many great comments following the concert. One, from a high school chum of mine by the name of Bob. We both played in a combo, called the Satellites. Trumpet, Sax, Trombone, piano, and drums. We did quite a lot of weekend playing. A job that paid $12.00 apiece was huge then. (Now you have some idea about long ago that was.)
Back to his comment, which I thought was very astute. He said, “You know, Steve, playing big band music by a concert band and keeping it idiomatically correct, is quite an accomplishment. The CCB did that today. Congratulations.” He has made it a point to hear us about three times and each time mentions the musical growth he hears. I concur. It is exciting.
Keep up the good work! I hope you continue to enjoy making music together.
Steve
Can I get a contact person or personnel manager for the band? I’m doing research on how community instrumental ensembles recruit members for my master’s thesis in music ed at IU-Bloomington and had a couple questions. Thanks!
