Memorial and services for Valeria Pemberton

The Columbus City Band lost a talented long-time member Monday, oboist Valeria Pemberton.

A loving obituary ran in The Columbus Republic.

The calling will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at Jewell-Rittman Funeral Home, 3855 25th St. in Columbus.

Visitation for funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at First United Methodist Church, 618 Eighth St. The funeral will begin at noon. The burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery, 501 N. Gladstone, and a reception will be at the church afterward.

Memorial donations can be made to Butler University School of Music, 4600 Sunset Ave., Indianapolis 46208, payable to Butler University with “School of Music” in the memo line

The family has asked that memorial floral arrangements come from Fisher’s Flower Basket, (812) 372-6688.

Please keep her husband, Ora, and his family in your thoughts and hearts.

Happy no-rehearsal Memorial Day!

In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, there will be no band rehearsal Monday, May 25.
