2019 Bartholomew County Fair concert details

The Columbus City Band gig at the Bartholomew County Fair is Monday, July 8, at the fairgrounds south of Columbus on State Road 11.

We’ll be in the David Boll Theatre, attached to the 4-H Community Building on the southwest end of the fairgrounds. It’s under a roof and in the shade, but there’s usually not much of a breeze — especially for those in the middle. We strongly recommend bringing or purchasing some water. And a sweat rag.

Everyone is cordially invited to help load/unload at Central Middle School and at the concert site. If you didn’t get to grab one of the parking passes, helping load is a tremendous, more-than-once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hitch a ride with someone who did.

Where to be when

Load: 5:30 p.m. at CMS.
In seats: 6:30 p.m.
Downbeat: 7 p.m.
Reload and unload back at CMS.

Summer band attire

Band shirt or T-shirt of similar color.
Black pants/shorts/skirts and shoes.

Parking

The general parking passes will get you into the regular parking for free. Take the north entrance to the fairgrounds — Spears Street.

If you got the special parking passes, they get you in free to the luxury spots close to the theater area. These are for band members only, absolutely NONTRANSFERABLE. Again, if you don’t have one, show up for loading at CMS and see if you can share a ride.

To get to the luxury spots: If heading to the fairgrounds on State Road 11, take the south entrance on County Road 200 South, the turn right (north) on Southside Drive (right before Southside Elementary School). Present your pass at the south gate, the one closest to the performing area.

Finding us at the fairgrounds

Here is a pdf map of the fairgrounds. We’re in the spot labeled “L” on the lower left side. The luxury parking spots are just to the left, off the map.
