Greetings from Steve

Many thanks to Dick Parman for making it possible for us to have a few weeks away in the middle of an Indiana winter. It was an enjoyable time in Florida. However, we returned a few days too early and experienced a huge mess of snow and ice. I guess it’s only fair.

We start our spring cycle of rehearsals this coming Monday, Feb. 16. In preparation for our Spring Concert, we’ll be reading music from the Big Band era – ’30s through the ’50s. Some of the charts you will have played. Others will be new to the band. The theme was suggested by CCB clarinetist Beth White. The folios are ready.

The Spring Concert is just nine rehearsals away – and that sounds a little more urgent than saying April 19.

The Winter Concert this Sunday (details in next post) is full of excellent music – all concert band classics. The Folk Song Suite is an outstanding example of an original work for band of the highest musical caliber. There is plenty of variety, and I’m certain our audience will enjoy the concert thoroughly. Again, thanks to Dick for all of his hard work in selecting and preparing the program.

Thanks also are due Dan White (Beth’s hubby) for recording our concerts this season. They have been of excellent quality.

More later. See you all Sunday!

Steve
