Happy holidays to the CCB
CCB members,
Thank you for another successful Fall Season. The concert yesterday was very nice, and what a crowd! With the move back to the Commons for our Christmas Concert, I was a bit skeptical concerning audience size. It was huge. The staff brought in extra chairs, so we were in the 400+ neighborhood.
Jo and I want thank you for the bag of goodies and the card that Natalie passed on to us. With the Holidays arriving soon, the contents will be put to good use.
It is a real joy and privilege to work with the Columbus City Band. I know, at times, our work must seem pretty intense, but hopefully the good feelings following the performance make the hard work worth it. Such was the case with yesterday’s concert. Here we were with a radically different venue, altered setup, a bit cramped (still), and no chance to run through a selection, and you, the Band, brought forth another fine performance. All of our input from audience members was positive – balance good, no problem hearing all sections from anywhere in the house. Maybe, with additional negotiations, and a few tweaks on stage depth, we might revisit the Commons. Please let your board members know your observations, likes, and dislikes concerning possible performance venues.
Jo and I will be taking off for about three weeks starting Dec. 27. Returning for Jan. 23 rehearsal. Dick Parman has the conductor’s folder and is plotting his rehearsals for Jan. 2, 9, and 16. Here’s hoping you all have unseasonably warm temperatures while we’re gone.
Have a very Merry Christmas! Thank you for making the Season happier with your musical talents!
Steve
